Hotel Daniel is a 32-room three-star superior at Via Antonio Gramsci 16/A, west of the river near the Ospedale Maggiore. Ristorante Cocchi, one of the city's old-school restaurants, is attached. On Booking.com a double was €162 for October 14, 2026 and €117 for November 11, non-refundable and without breakfast.
The reason to stay here is the car. The hotel has a free open-air car park, unattended and first come, first served, and it is outside the limited traffic zone. The reason to hesitate is distance: Piazza Garibaldi is about 1.76 km, 24 minutes on foot.

Parking and driving
Free parking is rare in Parma. Every central hotel we checked charges €15 to €25 a day or sends you to a public garage at €13 to €16. The Daniel's car park is free, open air, not attended and subject to availability, in the hotel's own words. Arrive in the afternoon if you want a space.
Via Gramsci is not in any ZTL in the city's 2024 ordinance. The hotel's driving directions take you from the A1 Parma Centro exit onto the ring road (tangenziale), off at exit 8 for the Crocetta district, then toward the hospital. You never go near a camera gate. For a Food Valley trip to Fontanellato or Torrechiara, you are on the ring road in minutes.
Dinner at Cocchi
The restaurant is the other half of the reason to book. The hotel describes Cocchi as a long-standing meeting place for Parma's food lovers, serving the specialities of the province, from anolini season to the cured meats. Our Cocchi review has the menu and prices. Booking.com's hotel listing says the restaurant is closed on Saturdays; confirm when you book a table.
Staying upstairs means dinner, a bottle of Lambrusco and no drive or taxi afterward. That is worth more than it sounds in a city where the centre is a ZTL.
Rooms and breakfast
All 32 rooms have a private bathroom with tub or shower, air conditioning and heating you control, a minibar, a safe and a satellite TV, according to the hotel. The hotel's site currently carries a notice that it is carrying out improvement works, including replacing the carpet, while continuing to take bookings. Ask for a finished room.
Breakfast was not included in any rate we saw. Booking.com's listing describes a buffet with croissants, homemade cakes, fruit, Parma ham and cheese for €10 per person.

The hotel points you to TEP buses 12 and 20 for the station. A TEP urban ticket costs €2, valid 80 minutes, and a day ticket is €6.30. Through the Oltretorrente, the walk to the centre is flat and easy by day.
Who it suits
Drivers on a Food Valley or castles trip who want to park free and eat well without getting back in the car. Visitors on hospital or university business on this side of town. Anyone who has stayed in the centre before and would rather trade a longer walk for a quieter street.
It is the wrong choice for a first visit on foot. On October 14 the €162 here bought less location than Hotel Stendhal at €151, which is 8 minutes from Piazza Garibaldi. On November 11, at €117, the saving on parking alone (€13 to €25 a day elsewhere) makes the Daniel good value for drivers.
