Strada Farini leaves the south side of Piazza Garibaldi and runs south through the old town. Its first stretch, and the lanes off it such as Borgo Giacomo Tommasini, are where Parma goes for aperitivo: wine bars, a salumeria, osterie and cafes. The corner with Borgo Tommasini is about 375 m, 5 minutes from the middle of Piazza Garibaldi.
It is a good address for evenings and a mixed one for sleep. There is no official noise data to publish, but an aperitivo street is busiest exactly when you might want to rest. And for drivers it is one of the easiest places in Parma to collect a fine: the Tommasini-Sauro camera gate is active 24 hours a day.

The ZTL trap for drivers
Strada Farini is split between three levels of restriction under the city's 2024 traffic ordinance:

On top of that, Borgo Tommasini at Via Nazario Sauro is one of Parma's five camera gates, and the only one that runs 24 hours a day. The usual €10 day pass (GZ) and €5 two-hour pass (BZ) do not cover the isola ambientale; Infomobility grants access there only in short windows on request at its front office.
If you do drive through by mistake, Infomobility sells a €15 ROZ ticket to regularize the passage, valid if bought by 11:59 p.m. the next day. Better: park at Parcheggio Goito (Via Goito 1/a, €16 per 24 hours according to Hotel Button), about 7 minutes' walk from the Tommasini corner, and walk in. Sleeping here: noise and where to stay
The lanes around Strada Farini are pedestrian, so the evening sound is people, not engines. That is still sound. If you are a light sleeper, choose a room facing a courtyard or stay a few streets away.
The closest hotel we cover is Hotel Button, on Borgo della Salina off Piazza Garibaldi, about 3 minutes' walk from the Tommasini corner. Its economy double was €118 room only for October 14, 2026, and €78 for November 11, with breakfast €9 per person. The quieter alternative is the Duomo quarter, 8 minutes north-east, where Hotel Torino was €146 and €122 on the same dates.
Much of what you will find to rent here is apartments rather than hotels. City-wide, Booking.com's search for October 14, 2026, showed 162 apartment listings against 30 hotels. If you book one, ask the host how your plate will be registered if you arrive by car, before you pay.
Price level
Sleeping near Strada Farini is not a premium address. The nearest hotel, Hotel Button, was the cheapest central hotel we checked on both dates: €118 on October 14 and €78 on November 11, 2026, room only, against €151 and €114 at the four-star Hotel Stendhal by the Pilotta. City tax adds €2.50 per adult per night at a three-star.
Evenings are where the money goes. An aperitivo crawl of three or four glasses with snacks is a real line in the budget; our bar pages carry the prices we could confirm, and Parma on a budget explains how aperitivo can stand in for dinner.
Who it suits
Couples and friends on a food-and-wine weekend who will be out until late and want a 3-minute walk home. Visitors on foot from the station, which is about 21 minutes away, or less by taxi.
It suits families with small children and early risers less well. For a day of sights and a quiet night, base yourself near the Duomo and treat Strada Farini as your evening destination. It is 8 minutes away.
