Trattoria Ai Due Platani

Michelin Bib Gourmand 2026 Primi €12–€24, secondi €22–€26 Closed Tuesday and Wednesday

Trattoria Ai Due Platani is at Strada Budellungo 104/a in Coloreto, a hamlet on the eastern edge of Parma, 6.5 km (4 miles) by road from Piazza Garibaldi. It opened in the 1920s as the Belvedere and took its current name in 1935, when owner Carlo Schianchi planted two plane trees outside. One died of disease in 1978 and was replaced by a lime tree. Since November 2005 it has been run by Giancarlo Tavani and Gianpietro Stancari.

The Michelin Guide lists it as a Bib Gourmand in 2026. The inspectors praise the Apennine rabbit; the restaurant's own pride is its vanilla gelato, churned to order in a Carpigiani machine from 1964. It closes on Tuesday and Wednesday.

What to order

From the spring 2026 menu on the trattoria's website:

  • Salumi: Prosciutto di Parma 30 months €12; culaccia 27 months €18; warm spalla cotta di San Secondo €14; mixed plate €12. Torta fritta comes as four pieces for €3.
  • Pasta: tortelli di erbetta €13; potato tortelli €13; anolini in capon broth €14; quail ragù risotto €24; lasagna €12 on Sunday lunch only.
  • Mains: Apennine grey rabbit with olive crumble and potato millefeuille €24; guinea fowl stuffed with foie gras €26; veal fillet with old-style tonnato €25; Black Angus rib steak €6 per 100 g.
  • Dessert: the gelato €8; hot zabaglione from the copper pot with sbrisolona €7 (minimum two).

Timing the gelato

The gelato alla crema con vaniglia is made to order, so it has a timetable. The menu says it comes out at about 2 p.m. at lunch and 10 p.m. at dinner, and that the time varies by day. Book a table early enough that you are still eating when it is churned, and ask the staff when you sit down. It costs €8.

A short menu on purpose

Tavani's stated approach, on the trattoria's website, is to strip away the superfluous without changing the soul of the place: no endless menu, just a few dishes at their best. In practice that means fresh pasta made to order, salumi from small named producers such as Antica Ardenga and Bocchi of Fornovo, farmyard meat and game, and a wine list that runs from local bottles to famous names. The room keeps the furniture of an old country trattoria.

What it costs

Shared salumi, a pasta and a main each, gelato and cover comes to about €50–€56 a head before wine. Pasta, gelato and cover alone is about €23. Prices are firmly in the middle of the Parma range: anolini are €14 here and €13 at Trattoria del Tribunale in town. The menu also tells you to ask for the bill at the table, not at the till.

Getting there and booking

Coloreto is 6.5 km by road from Piazza Garibaldi, about 11 minutes by car on an OSRM route; the trattoria itself says five minutes from the center, which is optimistic. Drive or take a taxi. Book on the website's booking form or by phone; the Michelin Guide says reservations are needed, and it is a favorite Sunday lunch for Parma families.
